SOE Strikes Back!, Clone Wars MMO This Fall

I couldn't resist the subject title above, although i almost made this thread in the SW:TOR sub-forum, hehe.

Wired Online posted an article this past June 1st with a video trailer of "Clone Wars Adventures". Capturing a similar demographic of the Cartoon Network target audience, or the Wizard 101 or SOE Free Realms crowd.

Maybe the most intriguing (especially for those old enough to feel burnt by The Phantom Menace) was a game in which players used their force push to hurl a Gungan into the air, hoping to hit explosives and piles of dung with the creature.



One of the game designers told me LucasArts was a bit iffy about this shabby treatment of Jar Jar’s kin until the gamemakers explained that the Gungan was a willing participant, happily helping young Jedi hone their skills.

If this is coming in the Fall of 2010 it'll probably leech many curious gamers from SW:TOR for a period of time. Besides SOE always starts anywhere from 6 to 3 months before their closed beta testing period for a MMO project. Before it hits retail Gold launch, so perhaps loyal Sony Station accounts may get an early beta invite?

hehe, Gungans willfully helping young Jedi... I will probably give this a go. TOR won't be out till 2011 Q3 or Q4 is my best guess. They have too much at stake to have a bad start. Better to hold off another year than lose a bunch of paying customers that could run into the millions.

"Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventure" goes Gold this coming September 15th.

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures will be released on September 15th. We've got several brand spanking new screenshots from the mini-games for SW: CWA and, if that's not enough for you, LucasArts and Cartoon Network have produced 22 new episodes of the popular Clone Wars series for season 3.

So while gamers are antsy to get into the SW:TOR closed beta. This puppy in a different time line of the franchise will be made available to the masses. To boot fans of the Cartoon Network series will also flock to check out this Mmorpg targeted towards the tween audience I suppose.
