I was really happy when I got the mail saying Champions was going f2p. I'll be able to play my heroine Shana again, and my kids want to have a go at it too. They 'll probably make dozens of champions just for the fun of creating them.

in the F2P model, you only get 2 character slots without a subscription. If you have a sub then you get 8, unless of course you have a lifetime sub, then you get 16. Also with a sub, when you get a character to lvl 40, then they open another slot for you.

Interesting. Can you level all the way to max without having to purchase anything from the shop?

It doesn't specifically state if there is a level cap or not, but seeing that F2P (Silver) members get access to all the zones, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to get to 40. Check the matrix out. There are what I would consider some serious limitations like only one bag instead of 4, but if you aren't going to craft, I suppose that isn't a big deal really.

The other real limitation is that you don't get to pick your characters powers. You do get to pick their advantages though, so it isn't too limiting.

It is a good game in my opinion. I play it often.

This is a litte disappointing - although of course they want to encourage people to get a full subscription.

To be honest though, the archetypes won't be gimped really. If you take the powers from a single set, you have a pretty powerful toon. The advantages make a difference on how your toon will play and you do choose those. But yeah, they have to give you a reason to buy a subscription. Lucky me I have a lifetime sub and am quite happy I did.
