Okay, I'm dense...I can't figure out which one you want us to read . Since I was only home for a quick lunch, not time to search through...

I'm not sure how new it is but something I notied was the level 10 cap at release. While this may seem small, Turbine are introducing what they call 'Ranks' within an actual level. These ranks (four for each level) will offer the chance to grant your character some kind of 'Enhancement'. The article from Ken Troop can be found here:

http://www.ddo.com/index.php?page_id=90 (I found the link from Blues News....)

Yup it's the developers diary on the front page. Only 10 levels at release with 4 mini-dings [ranks] within each level. You only get 4 enhancements but you can swap in new ones for old ones as you go.

How much like D&D Guildwars is this going to be? I'm not impressed at all with all this instancing stuff. this is a touchy one for me, especially having just left WoW, I was really looking forward to it until I read about all this instancing stuff.

Interesting...I didn't think anyone would dislike instancing. I know I like it..not having to camp contested mobs to advance, etc. Since DDO is supposed to be "somewhat" like DnD tabletop, I'm not sure how they would do it without instancing...a small group in an adventure.

I liked that aspect of GW...I just didn't like the non-fantasy, war-torn setting.

HEYA TWIZ!!

I guess I got spoiled by Lineage, EQ and WoW with the large ares where you could run into a guildie or enemy at any time. The instancing in Guild Wars just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Probably end up trying it anyway.

Hiya wolfy

Thinking of trying this one out? I agree about the guild wars instancing thing, did get a tad tedious after a while

Might see you in ddo though if you try it out

I'm with Twiz on this one. While running around a world being able to run into other players is nice, I also like the instance model the Guild Wars has adopted. They are different games and cannot really be compared.

The devs of DDO have already stated that the aim of DDO is to bring the same sence that the table top game had. A group of friends playing a campaign. We'll have to wait and see if they can pull it off ...

I love table top D&D and have for a very long time. I do agree that zoning into a dungeon with a group of TOGers would be and is the best thing in the world of gaming, but IMHO it's just not something that can be done with enough regularity to make it realistic, I'm pretty averse to paying a monthly fee for DDO and only getting a group together weekly, I can do that table top at home.

I'll probably try DDO, and really hope that it holds up to what I'm looking for in a game. But group reliant instancing is a scary idea to me, it's hard enough to get 5 TOGers together to run an instance in WoW or EQ2 much less where you HAVE to have a group to get most anything done.

Rickety, Twiz, I got nothing but mad respect and I hope that my little post here doesn't itch anyone's jockeys.

Cya in game TOGers!!
