Default System Reqs for Pirates of the Burning Sea

Just made it! W00t!

Pirates of the Burning Sea requires a 1gHz or better CPU, 512MB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce 3 or better, and a broadband connection.

We recommend a 2gHz or better CPU, 1GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce FX or better, a Soundblaster Live! or better, surround sound system, and a broadband connection.

Grats Dids!!

Looks like I'm SOL until I actually have my comp bought, shipped and hooked up. I could "borrow" someone's dxdiag, but that seems dirty, somehow.

Guess I'll just have to suck it up and wait. And wait. And wait. And... (trying not to cry)

The good news is, we're looking at beta in a few weeks! And that means release just around the corner (early next year).

Don't forget Mormi did the guild signup so we may get a few beta keys that way on top of the lucky ones to get picked from the open sign ups.

True, we don't know what they're doing with guilds yet. I'm very curious to see how that develops.

And what Isildur wrote on the PoBS forums...
"It will also be a while before we select our first pool of beta users. So you have some time. And even if you don't get an app submitted in time for that, we're going to go through many rounds of selection before we ship."

Sounds like a random element will be used for each round. I'm not too worried. I'll get in at some point, even if it's the open beta weekends. I just hope a bunch of ToGGERs get in!!

(Seattle, Sep. 19) Flying Lab Software announced today that in honor of Talk Like A Pirate Day they are opening registration for gamers who want to participate in the upcoming beta test program for Pirates of the Burning Sea, a new massively multiplayer online computer game. Later this fall, approved beta test applicants will join Flying Lab online to exhaustively playtest the game and get it ready for launch this winter.

Extract from the announcement they still are looking at this winter. So if your winter corresponds exactly to our summer, it means somewhere between 1 Dec 05 & 28 Feb 06. They seem to be fairly consistent with the winter release plan and the comments from PAX seem to put the game very playable and I would think the PvP instance as displayed at PAX would be one of the more critical parts to have right. I think the general sailing map etc and NPC interaction would be fairly simple programming compared to the Battle instances. So it all makes me think Beta might actually be fairly short but it could also mean that we all get into a "Pay for Beta" like SWG was at release.

They would have absorbed some heavy costs when they re-tooled the game last summer, effectively delaying it 12-16 months, and that was after already delaying it a few months.
When I first checked the game in the summer of 03, they were looking at a late 03 beta/early 04 release. I jumped in around oct. 03 cause I wanted a shot at beta.... :P (time flies, eh?) So no surprise if they're anxious to get it out the door.

Also, still hiring a mission designer(s?). That ad's been up for a while now, but they've said they're still looking. Rev writes most of the missions, but how many are in (and tested!!)? I think that's one area of the game that is going to have massive room to grow (ie. paying for beta after release).
People will sign on now, and say, 'where's the content?... I finished the missions in 2 days...' Devs will reply, 'it's coming... but our combat system is great, eh?'

So get in there and test, test, test, test!!!
