I've just recently gotten involved with the matrix online and was wondering if any of the tog folks played?

Not in a TOG guild.

A few TOggers got together and made a crew called Syntax Error but some of the game's limitations wayed on us and I the group broke up and quit playing.

A buddy of mine played it for a bit and came to the conclusion that pure, simple rock paper scissors is for middle school kids. not computer games.

Great concept and "meh" execution.

The remains of Syntax Error merged with another guild, I'm not sure what happened to them after that. If you can find Boratsguide online, he can help you, just mention my name

Beta tested it, after they launched in a really sad state I stopped playing in disgust (had harped about the looming negative reviews in the forums for weeks if they did so).

I was trying hard to like it out of love of the first movie and the animatrix, but unless they really polished it up, meh :/

I agree. some of the stuff was excellent and innovative , like instant-unlimited-respec, code crafting, interlock combat (for 1 on 1 fights)

but the many bugs and balance issues, and multiple-person interlock weaknesses screwed it up

Plus the pimp outfits got a tiny bit overdone

Where I think the main potential was at was in playing the "discovery" game. Seems like the theme was set up amazingly well to have some cerebral sort of mysteries going on...but I got the impression they just hadn't spent the money needed on the writing talent to close that deal by a good bit.

Maybe its changed a lot since beta, but I got the strong impression that everything but the engine and models needed a wipe from the bottom floor. Take out agents and let them be ultra-rare, immerse you in the storyline. Zion/Merog/Agents factioning seemed incredibly shallow.

One day some shop is going to take the best stuff from akira, the animatrix, mmos and nueromancer and make way too much money for their own good.
