Default WOW, System Requirements Question

Ok, WOW lists that you should have 256 MB of RAM to play minimum. I have 256 MB of RAM now, in about a week I will be upgrading, to 512, and maybe more, but I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has a system with only 256 and if it runs well on their system.

I am going to start playing this game, I don't have it yet, but I wanted to know if I should wait till I buy another system or if I can start playing it right away and not have any headaches with my current system.

Any responses will be appriciated. Thanks!

I don't remember too many people playing it with 256. All I know is, I found a dramatic difference going from 512 to 1 gb ram.

With 256, I imagine you'll be able to play 80-90 per cent of the game without any trouble. But that 10-20 per cent of the time -- when you try to navigate through Ogrimaar or Ironforge -- or try to join a 30+ player raid -- your comp will fall to its knees and beg for mercy.

If it was me, I'd wait. If you're talking about a 6-plus month wait, no. Get it now

Thanks Ijs, it is going to be about 4-6 months before I get a new comp, so I picked WOW up on Friday.

Ok, I am going to answer my own question:

It runs great on 256, It gets a little laggy on the weekend, in specific areas, like around the banks, but it runs pretty good. Now, most of the video settings are as low as they go, but it runs pretty good. I wonder how much it will improve when I upgrade the RAM to 512MB next weekend!!
