Been playing around 8 months now, joined our TOG group last month.
Smashing good game, for sure. Its got a pretty steep curve right at first, but its a lot more open ended than the other MMOs out there. No leveling grind, and after months I haven't scratched the surface on the content really.
0.0 space is just really exciting, which is "lawless" space - and makes up around 75% of the space in game. Completely human driven out there, and you almost have to work as a group to touch it, let alone thrive.
Combat is really exciting because the stakes are high. The economy is better than any online game I've ever seen, and I've touched on all the major players the last decade or so. You can be a high value trader in a real sense, with margin trading and commodity trading. The industrial system is very robust.
Its all on one shard, and because they have made the guild system (corporations in Eve) very robust (stocks, corporate votes, shared hangars, laboratories, etc) you have a real shared goal in building a corporation to be proud of.
Strategy + MMO + space + fleet warfare + strong economics. Back when I was playing TradeWars I would never have believed such a game was possible really.
I've also found the age/maturity level of your average Eve player is much higher than in other games. Real friendly and helpful group of people we have in the TOG group too, and we have enough resources put away to help the players who are coming into the game along.
Can't beat the drum hard enough for Eve, no doubt about it.
