This is my understanding from what I've read, the layout of the overall map and what I've seen so far .... which isn't a whole lot really.
Each alignment starts on their own island. It's pretty damn big and apparently has level 19 critters on it (or so I'm told). You could be there for a while.
For there you travel to Al'Drifa ... the PvE kingdom. From the quickstart guide, a kingdom is a pretty big place: 3 Duchies, 15 Counties and 75 Baronies. It pretty much runs east/west through the SoG map.
North and south of Al'Drifa are the two PvP Kingdoms, Agnar and Ysatis. Same as Al'Drifa, they are pretty massive. In DnL, Light and Dark will start at the extreme north and south of the map, so I'd say that most Dark will gravitate to the north and most Light will gravitate to the south, so they have a better idea of the lay of the land then the full game comes out next year.
Apart from that, I have nothing more to tell .... I've only played for an hour, am almost level 4 and haven't explored too far. Combat needs a lot of work, graphics are sub-par (but I've only taken default so far and people say it's very nice if you boost up the options ... just the FPS sucks) and the interface and commands need a severe overhaul.
That said, it has potential and considering WoW was in beta for pretty much a year and had Blizzard's budget behind it, this is doing .... ok.
