Not that I'm aware of , I cant say I have ever heard of changing the name from The Older Gamers. Do you have a link ???

Saw it on the Lord of the Rings Online forums, where they are recruiting as OTG. 25+, laid back, mature, etc, etc. Strikingly familiar, I must say.

But it seems to be limited to DDO and LOTRO?

Nope, they are purely a DDO guild as far as I know and have no association with TOG at all. They've been spamming up the DDO forums for quite a while now They seem like an OK bunch to me but I'll stick with TOG

Their name is so close, almost like their leadership are ex TOG members or people with a grudge against TOG?

Have some of our lot interested in PotBS and thought I'd stop by and say howdy. We've started a guild that's grown rather quickly. We were focusing on DDO but have decided that it would be a good idea for us to make the OTG more of a gathering of like minded players, across multiple games then a single game. ATM, we still have mostly DDO based info on the boards, but that will change very soon!!
