Hi All,

Anyone playing "Saga of Ryzom"? It's being done by a French game developer and its been out since around Sept. 2004. Right now they're developing a free expansion called "Ring of Ryzom". Which has loads of player created content sorta like in-game editor tools like Second Life does.

Saga of Ryzom is a sci-fantasy game MMORPG title. Also Jessica Mulligan of former Turbine and other notable game development fame is part of this game developer staff. (former columnist of "Biting The Hand")

I just started a 7 day trial period to see if this title is any fun. Since i'm going ansy and nearly bonkers for a MMORPG. BF2 isn't going to hold me over for long since i'm a hardcore type for MMO's.

I'm on the "Arispotle" server which is for the English speakers. They have another two shards one for the French and another for the Germans.

I'm trying my hand with the "Tryker" race.

its a really solid game. i loved playin it. but it had any players so i gave it up.

Hi Cerebrix,

How long ago was that when you stopped playing SoR / Saga of Ryzom? (due to lack of pop) Although i'm in the newbie zone much like EQ2 has it's starting isle. (SoR is way bigger in size than EQ2's) It's practically empty although i log-in during the early morning hours in my time zone.

I always see listed "Senior Guides" about which one of them told me the player pop is large. At least for the server i'm on presently probably based in the UK.

bout 7-8 months ago. trust me though, once you get off newbie island the game is a lot bigger. but the problem is its also a lot more empty. least when i played it.

Your right, that's still the case i got out of the noobie zone. There's only 15 players on at any one time or so during the GMT timezone since the server is UK based. That zone is huge but it's very empty at least for the english server.

Even though the game dev Nervax is going to offer that free expansion. That won't be cutting it for myself. I've canceled my subscription.

Like you stated nice game but a ghost server.

Now to hope i get into the Vanguard beta or go ansy until i find a better MMORPG in the meanwhile.

(i'm even having TOG withdrawls not gaming with any TOGers, lol)

Hmm.... Looks alright, but I'm thinking that I'll wait to see if it picks up any speed before I invest anything into it.

Been looking at this game as well, and if I wasn't playing Eve I would have tried it. Sounds a shame that they don't have the one server for the whole world ala Eve, that would probably bump up the population of the world.

looks like this game has come a fair way since I was in the early stages of testing. It was really basic in all aspects early on but that kinda goes with the territory.

The lack of players was the one reason I stopped testing , looks like not much has changed

Would be interested in a lowdown sometime if someone is still playing....
