Hey all,

This has just been announced and the buzz is that it will be from the Fallout franchise.

Representatives from noted developer BioWare Corp. have announced the opening of a new studio, named BioWare Austin, in Austin, Texas – the company’s second studio and the first to be located outside of Canada.

The new studio has already begun work on an unnamed massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG). Joining the Austin team as lead designer is James Ohlen, BioWare's creative director, whose previous credits include lead or co-lead design roles on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II. Also leading the BioWare Austin team are MMO veterans Richard Vogel and Gordon Walton.

Now anyone who is in the know that those players are as big as they get in RPG and MMO land.

Fallout!! When!? Where!? MMORPG....so this game will be 17+ then.

There have been rumours on and off about this for a while, but this is the most concrete one so far. My main concern is that they'd balls it up and create a EQ wrapped in a Fallout skin. Those names have some good credits though, Vogel and Walton both worked on UO and SWG so there is some hope that they'll make something good.

Every year in Oct (maybe Nov) there is a gaming conference here in Austin. It's mainly dedicated to MMOG's. Last year Richard Garriott was one of the keynote speakers. Might have to keep a close eye on the upcoming one and see if there will be any sneak peeks.

Bethesda hold the rights for Fallout 3. Bioware retained the MMO rights.

Nothing on No Mutants Allowed yet so not convinced. If the Fallout Bible doesn't have this up then they have either missed it or it is to inconclusive to say....

Edit: Also, I always thought Interplay had the licence for the MMO, not Bioware.....

Bioware's new Austin studio is going to produce a MMO, but I don't think there's any evidence that it'll be Fallout related. It would make a great setting though.
