Diablo 2 anybody?

heya all, I know this game is ancient now, but i have only just recieved a copy of it and was wondering if anybody plays it online anymore. I have made it very far atm but slowly workin on it

Everynow and then my mates and I will have ago, it's basicly we host our own server and just hack and slash everything in site Haven't had a go for a while, but will keep you in mind for next time we hook it up.

I will have a look tonight sometime to see what patch we are running is. We all have the Expansion on, but if you dont have that we can still host a game of standard D2 and use characters for that instead of our expansion ones

There is no reason to wait on the expansion as it adds a fifth chapter to kill Baal the Lord of Destruction where the unpatched diablo 2 ends with the death of Diablo in Act 4.

You want to have it installed so you can get the maximum health and mana potions from the merchant in Act 5. Plus the best store bought weapons are onsale in Act 5.

There is no real advantage to not installing LoD. LoD also has some nice enhancements like increased stash size and more different weapon and armour drops.

I still have my non-ladder characters on US West server if you are on that server which is the default server for the Australian released copy.

I don't play on non-Blizzard hosted server because you have less variety of players to team up with and in theory less likely to be playing with "hacked" characters who have cheated rather than earned their armour and weapons the old fashioned way by killing monsters and claiming the rewards.

The game autopatches your version to the latest patch 1.11 when you initially log in. Thats what that filling hour glass means.

These days I usually play Guildwars, but I will occasionally fire up Diablo 2 LoD and have a bit of a muck around run.

I just got this game recently ($8 at Circuit City) and wow, they really didn't improve it much from Diablo 1. The graphics are just as bad. I know the game is about 6 years old now, but it looks no better than the first Diablo that was made what, 4 years earlier? You're locked into 640 X 480 it appears, so it's only bearable in windowed mode.

I do appreciate the different classes and skills, but I guess I was just expecting much more than I remember from the first one. I'm still in Act 1, so hopefully it will pick up soon. But maybe this version is so popular for the multiplayer?

By the way, why is this in the MMORPG forum?
