Horizons BREAKING NEWS
Attention Horizons Players:
On the off chance you hadn't heard the news I thought I'd bring this to your attention. Horizons has changed their billing company. No surprise there, since EI just acquired the game. Here is the Horizons billing change announcement. However, it was quickly noted that the page managing your account billing information was not secure. Neither was the page for cancellation of accounts. This has caused many upset members ofg the community to speak out. Now granted this problem has just occured and EI has not had much time to address the situation, but if they do not move quickly HZ just might plunge itself into the Zapper*. Rumors I have heard include: The web pages for billing info and cancellation are not secure (true and verified). Billing information is being kept in a .txt file (unsure, but looking at the EI site it wouldn't surprise me), and that Credit Card information will no longer be useable for account billing unless your information is snail mailed to their account services (this seems rather far-fetched, but who knows). *The Zapper is a GU Comics reference.

It appears that they mainly want you to use PayPal. From digging around last night on the forums, it seems that you enter your personal info (name and email stuff) unsecure and then switch to HTTPS for the credit card data itself. They then manually process the CC.
Pretty rinky-dink operation there. They don't even have an agreement put together with a 3rd party CC billing company like Tulga did. Someone made a comment somewhere that the only three employee photos on the main web site (CEO, another exec, main GM) looked like two used car salesmen and a stoner.

I was really enjoying the game and the guild I had joined, but I am very upset about the shitty business practices being displayed by EI. Looks like I'm going to have to vote with my wallet and cancel my accounts. No way in hell am I giving them my credit card number.
