Saga of Ryzom Unlimited Free Trial

ok I am a big time VG Cats fan (vgcats.com) and I was pretty bored and an add for Ryzom popped up on the side of the webpage. Basically right now they have an Unlimited free trial your just stuck on the starter island. Now the other thing is all you have to do is pay monthly fee's to get the full game. The only thing really limited in the starter area is no ranged weapons, Can't craft them or get them. The skills you can buy are limited also.

I do have a fondness for sleeper games ( Disgaea anyone?). And this one is no exception. The thing I really really like about this game is how you can customize your skills to your preference. I will explain that using a WoW metaphor. Ok warrior would probably be the easiest so here goes. Ok warriors get heroic strike and Mocking Blow. Well lets break these down into Stanzas (Ryzom term) Basically you will have the Bonus and the cost of the skill. Lets say Heroic strike Rank 1 Adds 8 Damage and cost 5 Rage. Mocking blow Taunts and Costs 5 Rage. Now Yay we gained some levels and got Heroic strike Rank 2 which adds more damage and costs 10 Rage. So now we get to play with the fun part of Ryzom. Ok we edit HS Rank 1 by making it Cost 10 Rage and adding Mocking Blow Rank 1 to it. So now we have a skill that not only adds 8 damage but taunts too. This is but a small and (trying) simple example of the way the skill system. It gets even crazier with Magic since you can mess with Range, damage type, Add DoT's and so forth (At least with the offensive magic).

Now graphics wise its pretty good. My personal favorite is During Rain storms watching the lightning is awesome. Right now I am really impressed with this game that came outta nowhere.

I'm downloading the trial client as we speak. With the release of Ryzom Ring I'm very interested in this game. The first real MMORPG to include player created content (No Second Life isn't an MMORPG) quests and such and all the reviews on the game and new RR are spectacular so I'm very interested in seeing that the client is all about.

Any other TOGers playing? Maybe we can meet up in game.

Ok they just patched this, which should have seen this coming, Max level for any skill with Free trial is 21 now (Granted you can't raise Ranged anyways). Hopefully with this new cap they will add Ranged weapons to newbie Island now that they have some Control over the content.
