Post BattleGround Europe

If anyone is interested in joining up a squad then shoot me a PM and I'll add you to the list...when we have enough I'll contact and set something up.

I have been playing since 2003 and the game has continued to grow and gain steam since 2001, probably due to video hardware and technology catching up to it.

The thing to keep in mind is that this game is more a simulation than anything. ALL the models are realistically modeled right down to the armor thickness on various parts. All shells, bullets, grenade shrapnel, bombs etc.. have a speed and trajectory. No bunny jumping or getting shot 20 times before you die :>
Throw all this into a realistic 3D world that you can see for miles if looking through the optics of a main battle tank or binoculars. Its amazing that it works at all, but given a fast CPU, memory, and a good graphics card the framerates can be well over 100. If you are a infantry unit, artillary, tank, truck etc.. this is not so much of a problem. If you are planning on flying a fighter aircraft at 200mph then you will definatly want a late model video card.

By the way, planes and bombers are not arrow key up/down arcade style...they are real flight sim type. They have room for more than one person at a time. You have transport planes for troops and paratroops...ahh yes you can even parachute off a plane in this game. You have fighter/bombers with room for other players to man the guns and bomb-bays.

Same goes for Tanks and anything else...you start them..shift gears...apply throttle etc..You can multicrew about anything with friends. Tanks will allow three crewman...Commander /w binoculars, Driver, and Gunner.

Default Squad Name

Oh yes, and I need some more Ideas posted for a squad name. I would like to hear some names that would fit TOG.

The Older Grenaders didn't hit me as the greatest. lol
The only other I could think of was True Grit, which sounds great but leaves out the O.

Nice I saw this in beta and tried it again over a year ago for a few months. I wholeheartedly agree with you that you can't get anything like the best out of this game without being part of a squad. I was lucky to find a good bunch early on (allied of course ).

If you are a sim fan, this is really worth a look... whether army, airforce or navy is your thing. One word of warning though, it's not something you can usually jump into for half hour or even an hour. Sometimes it can take a couple of hours before you get to shoot at anyone (infantry at least) it's well worth it though as the campaigns last months.

I don't know that I'd be interested in starting again, time constraints stopped me last time and that hasn't changed on a regular enough basis, but it's good to know that TOG will have a squad if I do choose to take another look.

On the name, how about The Old Guard (I'm sure this is used for other games too, but that shouldn't be an issue).

Good luck with it hawk, hope you get plenty of support.

Acually, after the major upgrade, they fixed that with MSPs (mobile spawn point). A person can drive a truck out close to the action and deploy it as a MSP and infantry can spawn from there. They also setup AOs (attack orders) issued by the high command, which always give a few choices to get right into the action.

But you are right in thats addictive trying differant ways to get kills and rank without dying. I do better with infantry when I take my time sneaking through bushes or laying in wait for the enemy and sniping them. I love sneaking up on an enemy tank and laying a sachel charge down as a sapper.

Planetside is similar, you can have up to 300 playing on one world at any one time. We have a divison for Planetside, might be worth you having a look.

hi,
Well i tryed again this game, and tehre are loads of things that confuses me.

1st and formost, i cant register on the forums of the game, as it says that the administrator has dissables this function. so i cant post for help there.

- practically what would you advide, traying ing the real servers of do that in the test server 1st?
- my plann is on becomming a sniper in this game. so i`m not in the infrantary viecles / plains and heavy technikes. How much needed are they in this game?
- what is better for new players: defending or attacking towns ?
- any tips / info sites i should wisit besides these in the forums to get any additional help?

Side note: about hte Planetside, the sci-fi weppons and robots are not my hting, then the WWII weppons are better (the more realistic the better), but thanks for the advice
