If anyone is interested in joining up a squad then shoot me a PM and I'll add you to the list...when we have enough I'll contact and set something up.
I have been playing since 2003 and the game has continued to grow and gain steam since 2001, probably due to video hardware and technology catching up to it.
The thing to keep in mind is that this game is more a simulation than anything. ALL the models are realistically modeled right down to the armor thickness on various parts. All shells, bullets, grenade shrapnel, bombs etc.. have a speed and trajectory. No bunny jumping or getting shot 20 times before you die :>
Throw all this into a realistic 3D world that you can see for miles if looking through the optics of a main battle tank or binoculars. Its amazing that it works at all, but given a fast CPU, memory, and a good graphics card the framerates can be well over 100. If you are a infantry unit, artillary, tank, truck etc.. this is not so much of a problem. If you are planning on flying a fighter aircraft at 200mph then you will definatly want a late model video card.
By the way, planes and bombers are not arrow key up/down arcade style...they are real flight sim type. They have room for more than one person at a time. You have transport planes for troops and paratroops...ahh yes you can even parachute off a plane in this game. You have fighter/bombers with room for other players to man the guns and bomb-bays.
Same goes for Tanks and anything else...you start them..shift gears...apply throttle etc..You can multicrew about anything with friends. Tanks will allow three crewman...Commander /w binoculars, Driver, and Gunner.
