No worries. I'll be focusing on crashing programs responsible for authentication, among other key underlying functions. Guy with lots of computer training + situation where you can theoretically do anything to a computer program you imagine + a good imagination = lots of fun.

Nah nah, riggers are still well different from hackers in SR4. Hackers are crazy OP now that everyone is wireless and almost always online. Hack there cyberlimbs, eject the clip from the street sams weapon, switch off that snipers cybereyes, or yeah, crash those drones or take control of that riggers vehicle. Street sams might want to keep hackers in mind before they invest in a bunch of cyberware. Bioware is plenty more expensive, but at least it cant be hacked.

With a good imagination and a good hacker, the sixth world is your oyster.

Ok, I'll lock in my choice then and pick the mage. Primarily healer, with a little combat support of course...

Oh, and this is a not bad little wiki with a pretty good timeline.

I will be focusing on transport and neat tricks with drones. I am more of a support character is you will. I will steer clear of the security / hack stuff wizen

So who is stepping up as our weapon wielders?

I can go combat if we need it. I have literally dozens of character concepts floating about in my head.

Speaking of character concepts, are we taking the path of serious hardened professionals (as in characters that are focussed and very competent in their roles) or the motley crew approach (more rounded but less OP)? I guess it doesn't much matter, runners from all walks can end up working with each other. I'm just thinking it might help the group dynamic if we coordinate. If the group is going to be a bunch of serious professionals I'll think twice about making my mage a hopeless drunkard who is pretty much self taught in magery... :P

I quite enjoy playing 'interesting' characters over powerful ones.

I too prefer interesting over power.

Will wait for our illustrious GM to give us a hint as too what he is looking for in the characters before I start the build.

What I am looking for in characters if you all to play what and how you want to. This is all about having fun and I'd rather tailor the game to you all instead of your tailoring your characters to the game.

I am already loving reading you all work together in the thread. I feel like Hannibal and a plan is coming together.

Yep, they make for the best stories. I have a friend who once played a ranger (Pathfinder 3.5e) with a borderline autistic focus on perception. The character would spend hours flipping a coin with his eyes closed, counting the rotations by the sound the coin made.

With regards to my character, I'm torn between a military / corp washout and a fellow who doesn't feel comfortable away from a poly-monitor setup, even WITH his AR gear on.

I watched The Losers on the weekend and it has me jazzed for playing an ex military group. If you have not seen it, I recommend it. Not a deep movie by any means, but it has a good level of action, the story is enjoyable, there are funny moments and interesting characters.

What I really liked was that not everyone in the team is a weapons expert, and everyone had a role to play. (Hacker / Transport / Sniper / Intelligence / Melee). To succeed everyone had to do "their" job.

Playing a small team of specialists, with distinct personalities, that just got betrayed, now forced to live in the shadows, not knowing who to trust but very aware they are facing a well organized and formidable enemy ... sounds like Shadowrun to me
