I had one go at setting up Arkham Horror. It barely fitted on the table, and I realised trying to play/setup and watch tennis at the same time just wasnt going to work.

I certainly like the look of it, but I'm a bit of a Lovecraft fan.

I bought Elder Sign on iOS, because I heard it had the same theme and mechanics as AH. It looks great, but I couldnt really get into it. Then I saw Elder Sign (the boardgame) being played online, and it looked like a lot more fun, and made more sense to me. I think its the difference between rolling actual dice, and feeling them, blowing on them for luck (if you like) - or just hitting a button on the screen to "roll".

All the pieces for AH are popped and sorted, ready for gaming! (bought some plastic boxes yesterday).

Aah, I was so excited about Munchkins when I first posted here. And I had no real experience of board gaming.

Now, with a bit more play under my belt, I'm seeing the flaws in Munchkins. Had a game of it tonight, arguments were had, voices were raised...

Its just such a random game! You might as well roll a dice to select which card to play, and another dice to select the person to screw over, and you would do as well in the game.

I guess that has its place, but I think if I want a light, simple game, I'll go with King of Tokyo instead.

It can be fun, but once you've played a couple games things can go south and get vindictive - mainly when people carry over grudges from previous games. We can usually play 2 or 3 games before we switch to something else less confrontational.

Brought out Bang! yesterday at a gaming day, played quite a few games of that - it was a big hit. Maybe a little Munchkin-esqe (random), but a hell of a lot of fun.
