For me it was the black and white space invaders until some bright spark but coloured overlays over the screen to make it "coloured". I say around 1978.

Space Invaders simply because it was only one available near where I lived...from then Lunar Lander and one i was realy good at Defendor ...I do remember an old cafe near us had an old Boot Hill machine with the pistol hand grips, but the game that had me beat was Dragons Lair ...i could never complete it ...until I downloaded it to my IPOD

Cant remember what it was called but it had a cut out shape of a race car on a stick that moved when you turned the steering wheel. You had to keep the car between two lines on the screen . Hate to think how many empty coke bottles we knocked off for the deposit so we could play space invaders. Hate to think how many times the bloke in the shop paid the deposit on the same bottles lol.

Default Retro

Actually put quarters in to play pong and space invaders at bars - yes I'm that old.

Then it was Asteroids I think all this is a blur mind you, then the arcade games came and Atari 2600.

Before that Squad Leader, ASL, & alil D&D.

The first one that I remember was Double Dragon and Top Gun, those two really stand out. Also played the sit down Pacman. Also remember the Terminator with the Uzi and grenade button on the left side of the gun. Ah the good old days.

The earliest video game that I grew a fondness for is the old Atari vector based Red Baron.

I think it was Space Invaders for me. At a hotel where my family was taking a vacation. They went to the beach and I ended up at the lobby to play Space Invaders. I still load it up from time to time on Mame.
