Pleaids , loved the sound of those bird things.
Galaxian was interesting and very fast paced at the higher levels.

Funny when I play these now on my Arcade Mame Machine, the pace isn't as daunting as me memory recalls it.

Arcade games.... Growing up..... Hummmmm....
Does pinball count?
Dropped a lot of quarters into them, 3 games for 25c.

was space invaders, back in the old days when the parents would spend all day at the pub and the kids would be given a few dollars worth of coins to amuse themselves on the arcade machines. I still remember the table top, tin ashtray and cardboard drinks coasters sitting on it, smell of stale beer everywhere

Building a MAME cab was/is a long process for me. First stage was getting the dash setup and control panel made. "Testing" the control panel takes a good
month or so damn 88' Games and Ninja Turtles.
Next the main cab was built and everything put together. More "testing" has taken nearly a year

A year after inception and I still have to make the marquee, side art and monitor besel. Can't beat 4 player TMNT or Simpsons though

I broke my gaming virginity back in the late 70's or early 80's ( I honestly don't remember it was so long ago). My parents picked up this white square box that about 1.5ft by
1 ft. It had an off/on/reset switch, and 4 of the circle paddle controller things. It had pong and tennis and another game but I forget what it was. We'd play that thing for hours. It wasnt arcade but wow it brings back memories.

Probably space invaders or pac man I guess. Maybe asteroids. Yes galaga was up there. I remember they used to make the small arcade like games that were portable and ran off 'C' batteries. I know I had several of those.

Perhaps my most favorite of the original true arcade games was spy hunter.

Yeah, I had a few mini 'arcade' type games that were run off batteries, mainly things like Donkey Kong Jr and other game and watch type games given a nice big 6" internal 'projector' screen. I loved those things.
