Portal
This was somewhat not a game, but an interactive novel, anybody remember it? I absolutely loved it.
Prompted by this forum and it's topics I googled it and found the whole story in a web page. If you like you can read it through it here: Portal: A Dataspace Retrieval Start at the top and proceed through the index in order. The story gets fragmented, but that's what it did originally as well. The game had various icons portraying you interacting with the datasystem in the novel, putting you in place of the astronaut narrating the story. If you missed this back then, I recommend it as it's a good read still
