Default DOOMED MEMORIES

Been advised to start up another thread to cover Doom and your Doom memories, plz keep all references to Illegal software out .

Heres one of my first memories playing Doom with my neighbour.

I had a games room set up back then, and we would play various games sometimes over a LAn or just take it in turns. I dont think i had ever played a game like Doom with so much suspense to the point of fright.

Many a time my Wife would rush into the room, after hearing 2 grown men screaming at the top of their lungs, she couldnt work out how we could possibly have been scared playing a computer game.

MODS

The Alien mod has been mentioned, what other Mods where popular that I may have missed out on?

DOOM was was first FPS networked LAN game.
I had played with a null modem cable with other games.

The shear amount of blood and gore was fantastic!
Loved deathmatch

Red face doomed small

Hi guys

I remember playing doom on a 386 PC in a small window, couldn't even run it full screen.

Working in a University the technician put it on the network one lunchtime and we had a game, frightened about getting caught but what a blast.

Good old days, I still play the odd game even now

Best days

Ahh doom the first game that set me on the path of becoming a true gamer. 2 player dm over a serial cable, hacking the schools lan (coax not ethernet) so we could play doom at lunch, plus its was also where i picked up my spiffy Gamer Tag that i still use to this very day. Good times, good times.

I loved playing Doom and Duke Nukem. I spent countless hours in front of the pc with Doom (think it contributed to my divorce ). The when the duke went 3d, no one saw me for about 3 months as played over and over again.

Was their a reference to Doom hidden deep within Excel that year ('95 version)? I remember one of the spreadsheet programs did that.
