3 spring to mind, Frontier Elite 2 on the Atari, Star Control 2 and Master of Orion 2. All awesome games that took many a worthy hour of my life

The bestest game ever made, and I still haven't seen items done this well again, was Betrayal at Krondor. Realms of Arkania was great too (even the instruction manual was well written and pretty humorous) but I could never finish in the time limit. The same reason I could never beat the Magic Candle.

Damn Best game ever. That is a tough one

Toss up between 2 for me.

Civ 1 - Just 1 more turn
Total Annihilation - Nothing since in the RTS genre has ever come close to knocking this one off its perch for me. Still play a game of this at least once a month.

So many more come to mind as being close. Golden Eye (N64), Banjo Kazooie (N64), Beach Head(C64), Galaga(Arcade), Megatraveller 2(pc) rmeber spending the best part of a summer playing the last one with a cousin.

The original Metroid, Legend of Zelda and Super Mario brothers were to me, impact games back when I was a kid.

It's too hard to choose just one, so I'll post my top 5.
1. Neverwinter Nights - PC
2. Dragon Warrior - NES
3. Illusion of Gaia - SNES
4. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - PS1
5. Resident Evil 1 - PS1

The original Deus Ex. Mind-blowing ending. An intelligent shooter. A hilarious send up of the Illuminati mythos. Interesting quests and a great backstory.
