Crikey, this is a tough one. Can only comment on ones I played but the most memorable for me were Dungeon Master on my old Atari ST, Elite and, some time later DOOM.

I don't know if it'll get a lot of votes but if you had a sibling or close friend Secret of Mana was amazing. Always battling to be the sprite at the start of the game.

Bubble Bobble and stunts were amazing games. There was a couple i loved from c64 days that escape me at the moment.

Moria was another legend game in its day and even now it can be fun.

I keep a list of my favorite games because I'm weird (insane) like that. The only order after the 1st two is the line breaks dividing what I guess would be tiers.
1. FFT
2. Earthbound

Super Mario RPG
Mass Effect 2 & 3
MGS series
Borderlands 2
FF 6, 7, & 9
Katamari Damacy (series)
Little Big Planet 1 & 2
Suikoden I & II
Disgaea (series)
Valkyria Chronicles (I)
Chrono Trigger

Secret of Mana
Legend of Mana
Breath of Fire III
Kingdom Hearts I & II
Star Ocean I & II
Lunar I & II
Counterstrike 1.6 & Source
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Ys (series)
Dragon Age 2
Saint's Row III
The only ones I still regularly play are FFT, Earthbound, and CS:Source.
WoW (Proudmoore): Scy - Undead Rogue
Wildstar (Avatus): Scy - Draken Stalker
GW2 (YB): Scy Fang - Thief, retired

Doom and Deus Ex. Both revolutionary in their day.

I actually hated Doom. Back then I played things like Monkey Island (still do sometimes) and Leisure Suit Larry. I also remember an old game called Double Blocks which was a better version of tetris if you ask me. Games that required some mental skill were best though.
I buy houses fast for cash. I take care of closing costs and buy "as-is". We Buy Houses
