hmmm, gameplay rather than bling ...

i'd have to say the ones that jump out at me were:

Bloodwych (amiga)

and

Bards Tale 3 (apple IIc)

Bloodwych was one of those games that not many knew about that was totally ahead of it's time. Imagine playing Eye of the Beholder co-op , but so much better.

Bards Tale 3 was probably the first game that i played all the way through to the very end i loved the story and content.

these 2 i'd say stand out for among the 100s i've played over the years

Spent hours upon hours playing Street Rod, Grand Prix 1/2, Test Drive 3, F-19 Stealth Fighter and F-15 Strike Eagle II

Those we're the days when developers would give you a manual an inch or three thick

Also loved this one...California Games - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Remembered using some dodgy copy protection hacking software that allowed you to copy the game.

My all time favourite games that still havent been beaten by anything to date would definately have to be The Settlers, and The Settlers II - Street Rod was awesome, and I did get into Transport Tycoon Deluxe also, but the amount of time i spent playing The Settlers II was phenominal! The Settlers II 10th Anniversary Edition came out a year or two ago which was pretty good but the original Settlers II is still the best by far

Just tonight I introduced my wife to Pitfall II emulated on a C64. I lost entire weekends to that game when I was little, after which I would have the tune in my head for the rest of the week as well. How kind Activision were to incorporate endless lives right into the game (returning you to the most recent 'save' point, like modern games do).

So much to explore, as long as you didn't have to power off the machine. Of course, I could simply turn off the TV and convince my mum I really had turned the C64 off, and simply pick up again the following morning where I'd stopped.

By the way, my wife tonight reckoned it looked a little boring. I guess she had to be there.
