Came across my old copy of Atmosphere, that was a weird on, good as a board game with video, that scared me back in the hey day, the pc version wasn't as bad but nowhere near as good as the board game.

Might & Magic VI was the first game that I recall scaring me, really scaring me...

The spiders in one of the first caves, you could hear them but it was dark, real dark and then you heard them coming and you be swinging around...I can't see them....I can't see....BAM they'd attack!

It was hearing that sound getting closer and closer knowing they were coming and nowhere to run!

DooM gave me a few startled moments but i wasn't afraid.

System Shock 2 was frustrating. This was more startling than DooM, lots of high pressure moments and big scares but i still wasn't afraid.

Alien vs Predator (the first one). When playing as the Marine i kid you not every time i played that game from the start i would be afraid to move forward, no where was safe, you couldn't stop for a break. The game was made from constant, suffocating fear. I only ever finsihed the Marine story once, after i had owned the game for about 6 months and only because i forced myself to play through it because i had paid for it and i wanted to see how the story ended.

Brilliant game, is definitely in my top 5.

I barely remember it but I seem to remember 7th Guest had a few moments in it. Doom did have those sudden shock moments, and they'd really gotten them figured out by Doom 3, I don't know about truly scared, but after an hour or so of Doom 3 I'd have to take a heart break, let the bpm settle a bit.
