Wow now thats a game.
I was hooked to RTW that was awesome.
I felt the Romans though were the most strongest and impossible to lose playing with them.

Looking forward to this!

Ditto - I have been a huge fan since Shogun.

If you've got Medieval 2 and want a very very well done mod - google 'Stainless Steel'. Awesome mod!

Yep, I love Stainless steel as it's a much better version of M2TW than the original.

The AI in Stainless Steel makes my archers weep

It loves to crush them with cavalry if I'm not careful.

Oooooo Me thinks that those New World Colonialist are gonna taste some british Steel. and the French are gonna Bleed......And don't get Me started on the freaky Deeky Dutch.... I really enjoyed Medieval II, was totally hooked to it. It was the only Total War I played but I'll certainly be picking up this one as well.

I also got the expansion for Medieval II but never managed to find the time to get started with it, it's very time consuming this game thats for sure. That Stainless Steel mod does look good, didn't know that one.

Medievil was fantastic.
Haven't got that mod though. Sounds interesting.

This looks like a ripper though!

No only Medieval II I played, this one does look good, the main attraction will be the naval battles and graphical upgrade for me. I still like the Medieval era the most though, the pre gunpowder era so to speak.

I played the Eidos game Imperial Glory which had both Naval and land battles which was set during the Napoleonic era (which was way too short a scenario) and the campaign map wasn't nearly as good as the Total War games, also when units where told to form squares they just huddle together (The Cossacks II game represented this much better). The exciting part about the gunpowder era is the range of the weapons and that weather will play a massive part in your strategy. Gun power and rain don't go well together also cannon shot is pretty useless on soggy ground add to this the Total War campaign map and your ability to pick yer ground and this is going to make for one exciting game.
If they start the time frame at the 1700 mark it will also be a race to colonise nations as well as taking on the old Foes in Europe and hopefully it will then be expanded into the Napoleonic era
