Default Elemental: War of Magic

Elemental - War of Magic

This is from Stardock, makers of the GalCiv series and it looks promising. In the interview with Gamespot, the owner likens it to Master of Magic, Civilization and Total War, and that sounds good to me. The art takes a bit getting used to at least for me, but if you look at the screenshots, it seems fine. I just wonder when you are doing combat how that all looks, but in a turnbased mode not too bad. Oh, it isn't coming out till 2010.

Stardock makes some very good games, and thye usually deliver a good product from the start. I can wait.

At the moment, to get my fantasy strategic fix I play Heroes of Might and Magic 5 (TOTE expansion).

Apparently kings bounty is good.

I like the art style. They at least seem to understand how to abstract and simplify things correctly rather than just throwing "outlines" around everything like other games going for that cartoony look have done.

the art kinda grows on you, just waiting for my beta copy if you didn't know, if you preorder then you get into the beta, or at least that is what they said several months ago when I preordered the game.

I can't work out whether being in the beta for a game like this is good or not. I don't want to fatigue myself out of a game due to beta issues, but seeing it evolve into the final product is kinda nice too.

Whoa, say what? Erm, those three games are my greatest of all time?! Well, Civ 2, but close enough. Crikey I'm going to need to keep an eye on this one...
