Question Anno 1404 ideas?

hey toggers, I am keen to get the Anno 1404 bundle (including Venice expansion). The steam price hasn't varied in months by the looks of it from around US$50. Ubisoft are completely frickin mad for trying to sell it for AU$140 from their Aust based website!

A couple of Australian distributors (games warehouse, Dungeon Crawl) seem to offer a reasonable price for the expansion, but they don't have the original or the bundle. EB has it apparently still on their system at AU$70 or so, but no stock in the 2 stores I visited.

I have heard that Ubisoft released a patch (1.1) for the retail version which removes the DRM (apparently the downloaded versions still have it?).

My question basically is, does anyone know anywhere else to get a retail copy or should I just bite the digital bulltet and get through Steam?

If I buy through a Thai distributor for example, will it work ok in Aust?

thanks!

I've bitten the bullet and bought the game from Zest in Thailand. will see how it goes. Total of about $30 including delivery. Apparently the Aust and UK stores have had it listed as no longer available.

I found it to be reaaaaly buggy. As in, crash-after-thirty-mintues-due-to-memory-leakage buggy. Save well and save often.

thats not good!! It seemed to get some fairly good reviews. Did you have it patched up to 1.1 or whatever they are up to? Thanks for the heads up though.

Kerogi, there are some reviews out there. Dawn of Discovery for PC - GameSpot

Ships and city building, trade and that sort of stuff. (there is a reason I am not a game reviewer - lol)
