I remember playing Frontier Elite on my 486 when I was in high school. I spent the next 20 years wishing someone would make a similar game, had never heard of the X series until about six months ago when I bought Terran Conflict. It sucks that I missed all the others in the X series, I certainly won't miss this one when it comes out. Can't wait.
