Default Warhammer - Wrath of Heroes

What happens when you strip Warhammer Online of the MMORPG and just center it on premade characters with battleground 6v6v6 pvp matchups?

Reveal Trailer

Meet the Pyro

I've been wondering when they'd start making these sorts of pvp battleground multiplayer games. Seems a bit weird though that all those races would mix about so much on the teams, but if you can turn a blind eye to the lore and just enjoy the combat this could be a lot of fun.

They've totally lost the plot here, I don't see what this to do with Warhammer at all. Warhammer (the tabletop game) was/is a great strategy game, why butcher it to make trash like this?

Very surprised to see Games Workshop letting this happen to their IP, even more surprised to see Bioware's name attached to it.

Not that I have anything against an MMO orientated PvP arena style game, it just makes absolutely no sense to use the Warhammer IP for it. In fact, this would be a great format to use for the resurrection of GWs Necromunda IP.

Small groups of 6 to 10 clash in cramped post-apoplectic arenas. But no, let's make yet another generic game with elves, fat dwarfs and law that makes no sense in the context of the game!.

Yeah, Games Workshop usually keep a tight hand on the reignss. If the teams were at least kept along ally lines it would make more sense. Also the comic-style particle effects were a little strange. I thought it might be post-production at first but I don't think thats it. Still I have been curious about a game of this nature. Sort of n MMO BG/arena only combat without all the mmo bits.

Need I remind you of this, the first PVP arena MMO style game:

It destroyed the studio, Auran used to be one of the major game studios in Brisbane, now it's a handful of people rehashing Trainz every year.

Can't say this interests me in the slightest... As previously noted, necromunda (hell, blood bowl or ork truk racing) would be more suitable. The massive amount of poorly designed pvp that was end game in WHO was what drove me away from it in the first place, I don't see the lure of just the component reoffered.

The necromunda idea would have been better.

I liked Warhammer's pvp in the earlier tiers. T2 was fairly epic.

But Warhammer is not really an arena style IP, it's about huge epic battles. At least that's how I see it.

Nercomunda on the other hand seems a perfect fit for this style of game. Unlike Warhammer or 40K, Necdromunda already has an XP and levelling system for each individual team/gang member in your group, even the territory resource gathering and spending mechanics that you play out in between each battle would translate over well into a game like this (you had to purchase weapons/gear with money gathered from your territories that non-wounded gang members worked after each round). It's been begging for a video game translation for years as it has all the same mechanics of persistent online RPGs fleshed out already - what it's never really had is an extensive amount of law (apart from loose 40K ties) so it wouldn't make a good MMO without a lot of writing but a persistent multiplayer team vs team style game seems like a match made in heaven.

Sadly, when I look at this I can't help but see such a brilliant opportunity being squandered.
