So someone suggested we move a lounge chat to here ...
I got a beta invite and just wrote up my first impressions after having a dabble on the weekend.
So on the weekend I spent a few hours with a Wizard. We explored EVERYTHING from the start to the last scene. No body was left unrifled. I ended up with a level 9 wizard.
Things that I noticed and had forgotten.
*Chat screen begins on the main menu. An interesting new feature.
*You don't get to choose how your character looks at this stage, so the same as Diablo 2 in that respect.
*It took quite a bit to get used to the perspective after playing WoW. You don't get to spin your view around or choose it any way.
*It took quite a bit to get used to point and click to move after learning WASD this was probably the thing I struggled with most, but it did bring back lots of memories.
*Finding a town and my "stash" also brought back fond memories of my diablo days.
I don't want to give too much away cause I know probably a good portion of you will want to play it. It is certainly no wow killer, at this stage there is no mmo type function although I guess you will be able to real id chat with your friends. It does seem like the kind of game that you would organise to play with some friends once a week, once a month that kind of thing. It is rich in actual dialogue between your char and the npcs which is great and it was good to hear Deckard Cain's voice yet again (old fool).
I had a go at Blacksmithing. I like the way they have done that although it seems pricey if you start with nothing, the monsters dropping 2 - 3 g at the start would seem to indicate that you start with nothing although in the beta you start with 6k.
All in all it was a fun afternoon and something else funny I noticed, when Wemb left the party it said "The monsters/creatures grow noticably weaker". I had forgotten that about Diablo too. The more people the harder the mobs.
