Default Fallen Enchantress

The first of the beta test releases of Fallen Enchantress go out in a few hours and over the coming weeks this will be opened up even further. The screens and info are looking great.

If you bought the Elemental War of Magic game at pre-release then you should be getting this game for free and should also be included in the beta testing.

Elemental was a massive disappointment but I'm looking forward to this one. Stardock seem to have made a lot of changes to the original game to bring this to where it should be.

Playing the beta, got to say this is looking like a very solid game. Loving it so far. There are a few glitches etc (it is in beta) but the underlying mechanics work well.

Wow yeah Splat I agree totally. Right from the start it is a lot more slick, interesting, and most important, engaging! Elemental felt like I was dragging myself through each turn but this new lease of life... You know I can see myself getting to the 'Oh just one more turn!' stage quite easily.

Nice one. Thanks mate. I've been playing it a bit. It really is a lot better than it's previous incarnation eh.

It's great isn't it. Just had my first crash but it has been really quite stable up until now. The new beta is a lot more difficult.

I've had quite a few crashes but it's completely expected, beta and all. How do I update my client?

Edit: Ah, from the website. Downloading a patch feels so quaint these days...

Damn man, by about 100 turns in I am constantly getting my ass handed to me by wandering mobs. There are warbands of strong trolls and even just single baddies with the Maul ability that just paste anything I can produce at that point of the game. Any tips Splat?

There was another version, 0.77 released today, that fixes Maul to an extent. But it also makes things a little harder as it is more difficult to get a champion army.

I wander around trying to recruit champions and then fighting the easy monsters to help them level up. Your starting race has a big impact on the playing style. If you pick the Trogs as the starting race you can pretty much just stick to warrior champions and do well. Gives you an early boost in strength.

I also try to get another one or two cities established reasonably early but I've had a few of these destroyed by monsters as well.
