O'rly?!?! For some reason I had in my mind that this was an expansion of the Majesty game? Perhaps I am right but it just isn't in the way I was thinking.
See once upon a time there was this game called Master Of Magic. It was a brilliant game and is still in my top 10 despite ageing poorly. Many came after MoM and tried to be like MoM, but never quite captured the same epicness that came about with a dual world, mighty magical creatures, and heroes that could be buffed to the point they could wade single handedly through whole armies. The latest attempt was Elemental: War of Magic which fell far short unfortunately. It's being re-done, better this time, but I still doubt that it will capture what I want it to. In any case, thanks RnR... Better keep an eye on this one!! |
Just playing with the demo - user interface is very very nice. No clutter. Everything is easy to access and very intuitive. Graphics is gorgeous on my 5770 card.

Got it coming down right now and just pre-ordered. Steam just makes it a liiiiittle bit too easy.
|
My demo is finished :(
But left a far better taste in my mouth than Civ V did after an hour of play :D |
Well I reckon I'm about 3/4 through my demo and this game just shot to number 1 most wanted!! It's freakin brilliant!!!!
|
Just read on the steam forums, that the AI got upgraded just after the demo build was finished.
One downfall is that the magic research is very simple. Almost too simple. When its time to pick the next spell to research, you have a random selection of 5 spells you can choose between. There is no tech tree unfortunately. |
Well I view it from the Might and Magic tech tree perspective where you have your spell book with a random assortment of all the spells made available at the beginning and as you research them they are replaced by another random spell from deeper in the spellbook. Not sure if there was any method that made it more likely low level spells would be revealed early in the game. But I do remember rushing crap spells through if they were quick to learn to unlock another that could be a game changer and I quite liked that as another random element.
I wish they'd unlock the 50 turn limit on the damn demo for people who have pre-ordered. :) |
Tomorrow can't come soon enough!!
|
How did I not see this, checking it out now.
