Too many to mention really.

The Fallout, Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls franchises are definately close to the top of my list however.

Had a play with System Shock just the other day, that was a fav "back in the day".

If I had to pick just one, it will be The Witcher 2. The world and story is filled with lore and the mood it sets makes it a very believable. The improved combat system over the original game makes combat thrilling and satisfyingly

A close second will be Dragon Age: Origins for its great characters development and epic story.

Baldur's Gate 2 definitely.

I would put the first one in close second.

That's a hard question, since the early days of Wizardry and Ultima there has been many evolutionary improvements to the Genre, the Gold Box games hold a certain nostalgia for me.

Personally I think for me the CRPG peaked somewhere around the original Neverwinter nights, after that I feel titles lost as much or more as they added

Baldurs Gate 2, the Elder Scrolls series, and FFVII.

I lost hundreds of hours is these quite easily. The best RPG is one you never want to finish.

Fallout 2 is my all time favourite! It presented and is still presenting the most flexible character development in personality wise and world where life is more grim and realistic.
