I use Bandicam for all my recordings. Bandicam usually compresses reasonably well but I also usually run the files through HandBrake with custom settings for YouTube afterwards to get the file size...

Definitely worth sticking with! If you have never played ARMA before then you have that learning curve on top of the DayZ learning curve. Learn the keyboard shortcuts and you'll be a long way down...

I've been playing 1.7.2.3 as well for a few hours. Seems nice and stable. Also have the latest beta installed. As Coop said the loot seems scarce. Haven't actually found anything in a deer stand yet....
