Another thread ressurect!
I wasn't sure if this title had slipped into the abyss, or was on the slow build, but we've finally got some "news" of sorts. Just saw these two little write-ups on Gameplayer.com.au, and thought I'd share the love!

Aliens: Colonial Marines
H. R. Giger’s Alien + squad-based colonial marines gameplay + developed by Gearbox Software = hell yes! Aliens: Colonial Marines is set after the events of Alien 3 and allows the player to issues orders to squad mates or even switch to control them. Colonial Marines will feature a no HUD, with players relying on their wits and the use of the ominous sounding motion tracker to determine where the nasty xenomorphs are coming from. Both cooperative and competitive multiplayer are set to be included, the former having has particularly excited.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will also feature quick time events that will occur when the player is attacked one-on-one by an alien drone or facehugger… not so sure about that. Either way, it’s been too long in between decent Alien games, so we can’t wait and the developer’s last outing, Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, was awesome!

When it comes to franchise thrashing, certain IPs should be aiming to have new games released more frequently. Now while we’re certainly not condoning the watering down of a franchise or cashing in for the sake of making a sequel, there are some series with particularly rich extended mythologies that have yet to be fully explored. Take the Alien franchise for example and how it’s been far too long since we last crept through a poorly-lit corridor with only a 2D motion-tracker to indicate where our stalking enemy was going to attack from.
While the Aliens vs Predator games were a blast back in the day, they weren’t exactly perfect, which is why we’re excited about Gearbox’s upcoming squad-based shooter, Aliens: Colonial Marines. According to this article over at CVG, Colonial Marines will feature the following: “Like [the] exceptional Left 4 Dead, Colonial Marines is a four-player co-op game centred around survival: you're constantly under attack and the environments you move through are frequently hiding your enemy. However, whereas Left 4 Dead pitches you into the middle of a nameless American city awash in zombies, Colonial Marines goes for fan-pleasing recreations of the movie quadrilogy's best locations: LV-426, the planet where the Nostromo first discovers the derelict alien ship in the original film; the Sulaco, where Ripley joins up with the marines in Aliens; and Fiorina 'Fury' 161, the prison facility from Alien 3.”
So the formula for awesomeness is simple; co-operative squad-based combat, with some Left 4 Dead inspiration, plus environments from the second and third Alien films. Gearbox have shown that they can make a solid squad-based shooter with the Brothers in Arms series, so we’re looking forward to seeing what they pull off in the beloved Alien universe.
