Default Anyone still playing Armed Assault?

Just wondering how many out there are still playing Armed Assault.

If so what servers are you using these days?

Cheers Ulric.

Dr Eyeball is still playing i believe, Im waiting for next patch b4 continuing, with Vista and 4 gb ram the game is nogo, can be sorted by disabling 1 gb of ram at boot but i refuse to do such things to play 1 game.

GSA servers prolly most populated.

Teefo, while he's been off the radar for some time now... plays ARMA. Unfortunately he has the steam version which is still at 1.08. So server selection is limited. Mostly he plays on Veterans Resurrected.

Teefo is currently looking for a job so his pay to play days are over... for now.

I've been playing regularly on the Internode server, which is password protected. Check out the ArmA forum on games.internode.on.net for details.

The new domination is pretty awesome, and warfare is a lot of fun.

I was thinking of downloading this as someone said its close to AA in the gameplay style? If there's a bit of a crew here I might I've it a shot.

Is there large amounts of hackers playing? If so I might just skip it.

I don't think hackers are so much of an issue as the idiots. The meat and potatoes of this game is cooperative multiplayer. So you need a server which is well administered playing game types you like.

The 3 most popular types are:

Warfare = cross between Command and Conquer and an FPS. Can be coop or adversarial

Domination = cooperative multiplayer where you complete side missions to build your teams stockpile of weapons

Evolution = A cooperative mod with RPG elements.

Because you're working together with other people the game can suffer if you get an idiot who wrecks your vehicles or team kills.

The two servers that are good in Australia are GamingSA and Internode. Internode is password protected and well admined, with a low player count but also low idiot factor.

I actually play with friends on private servers from time to time and that is great fun.

Be warned, there is a learning curve like a cliff...but I gave up COD4 to go back to ArmA, it is my favourite FPS but not for the casual gamer.

The guys that make ArmA also make VBS1 and VBS2, the ADF training game.

I like AA and same as you gave up on COD4. I'm eagerly awaiting the AA3 release but until then thought I could use some variation. I have downloaded the demo.

Do you know if I have to apply the patch to the demo version?

Not sure about the demo mate, I don't imagine it is patchable. You also won't be able to try out the good mods, but it will give you an idea about the physics and ballistics.

Try not to get shot, is the main key .

Been playing this since day 1 back in November 2006. Apart from some P.R. I haven't played anything else. The game is fantastic in my opinion, but the biggest issue it has is the lack of players now.

Use this to find the local Aussie servers:
gametracker ArmA listing

Demo was a bit rough and simplistic, so not a good indication of what it's about. It was never updated to include recent fixes and performance gains.

If you look around, it should be available very cheap from certain places.
