This has probably been asked before on this forum, but dows anyone play Black Hawk Down. My mates play this regularly and we were looking to create a division.

I had a look at the original demo that was released for it, and was mildly impressed with the single player aspect. Very scripted, but fun.

I couldn't get the multi-player (demo) stuff to work online properly, but had a look at the two maps provided, and I've got to say, they are possibly the best scrim maps I've ever seen. I loved the way the grass, and water worked, and the character movement control was very good. I'd love to give it a go one day, but I'd need to be able to find it at a local shop. I'm not sure if it's still available. Think it is.

However, I didn't like Joint Ops at all. Only tried the demo, but the sheer scale of it nearly killed my poor little pooter. It also looked like it had lost all that was impressive about the original Black Hawk Down that I saw.

I picked this up as a deal for an ATI card along with HL2 ages ago. Installed it and it looked promising but I was having issues with lockups and getting stuck in Humvees so I gave it to my son. Blackhawk Down is now available as a budget release and I've seen a few copies around. Actually I ended buying Joint Ops and I loved it. Never played the demo and it's no longer supported anyway. My system is an XP2600+ with a 9600XT and 512mb ram and it looks good and plays well. My 128k ISDN connection seems adequate for the most part and I find the game playable on mosts servers up to about 240ms latency unless I get on a really big server (100+ players).

Default Yay!!

I actually play Black Hawk Down religiously. I also make maps and host servers every weekend. I am working on a snipers challenge right now. You can read up on it at www.snipersbarracks.com. I am involved with a squad right now but it isnt looking promising. Most of the members still play Delta Force 2 which was released in 1999. It has half the options of BHD. So if anyone wants to hook up I will host a server this weekend. Leave me a message here or at the above web address.

Mate I'd be willing to give it a go but I'm fully booked this weekend. I'll also have to reload BHD, but certainly I'll drop by.
