Default NVIDIA / Unreal Tournament 3 PhysX pack.

If you own a geforce 8, 9 or GTX 200 series graphics card then you might be interested to know that next week Nvidia will be releasing new drivers with PhysX support, so you will no longer need a separate PhysX card as your graphics card will be doing all the work. The drivers are already out for 9 series cards but the full pack and 8 series drivers will be here next week.

The pack includes:-
Quote:
Warmonger--full free game! Destroy walls, floors, and whole buildings top open up new paths or close existing ones. Destructive power is more than eye candy here--it's a tactical weapon in this ground-breaking action game.

Unreal Tournament 3 PhysX Mod Pack--includes three maps with amazing effects that fundamentally change the gameplay (requires commerical version of Unreal Tournament 3)

A sneak peek at the upcoming Nurien social networking service, based on the Unreal Engine 3

A sneak peek at the upcoming game Metal Knight Zero

All new NVIDIA "The Great Kulu" tech demo that showcases the use of PhysX soft bodies in a real game play environment

All new NVIDIA "Fluid" tech demo--a simulation of realistic fluid effects with a variety of liquids

In conjunction with the release of the GeForce Experience Pack, we will also be releasing new WHQL-certified drivers that enable PhysX acceleration for all GeForce 8, 9, and GTX 200 Series GPUs. This new driver also adds support for PhysX-accelerated features in the commercially available game, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

Being one of the few games that actually supports Physx atm, that's good news for us. Should hopefully add a few fps for most us

Haven't had a go myself yet, but looks very impressive. Remember you do need the Nvidia 8xxx, 9xxx or GTX200 video cards to use PhysX and with driver of at least version 177.39

Download the pack

Here's the latest Nvidia driver with the goodies mention by Rog. Have had a play now, and it's very good indeed. 3GB download (options can be be unchecked though), so be warned.

I downloaded it last night and I've played the 2 CTF levels and my performance sucks, they are borderline unplayable on my system (OC'd 8800GTS & E6600 CPU). I have only played them so far on the normal settings I use for UT3 (pretty much everything maxed) so I'll have a play around and see if I can improve performance a bit.

I have a core 2 duo e2200 with 4 gigs of ram on xp with an nvidia 8600. poppped in the new whql drivers and the physx pack and played a bit earlier today.

it still looks as good, and runs as good.

but I really dont see much of a difference.

what am I missing.

I don't believe you will see any difference in th original maps, just the new Physx ones. What you will see is that the shock rifle is gone (no more combos Whack), and destructable environments, which you can use to take out your opponent with one shot in some cases. Also, you'll find that in the tornado map, items will be moved by the storm, blocking or creating access to parts of the map. You too, get thrown about by it, unlike in the sanstorm map. Haven't checked, but maybe weapons such as rockets may go stray in the tornado???
