Default STALKER Clear Sky is out

Saw it in eb games for $69.95 a couple of days ago and was going to get it of Steam for $39.95 on the 15/9,but got it today for $59 at JB HiFi.

I will try and get a review going later tonight or tomorrow

I preordered on steam as it was cheaper, so I'll have to wait a bit, not like I have time to play anway for now. I do hear the reviews are somewhat mixed.

I loved the original Stalker though and still want to give this one a go regardless of the review scores.
Plus I have a weak spot for games developed in Europe.

Been playing it for the last 3 days and I'm pretty much hooked, Beavis if have the Retail version Patch it first (55 Meg) otherwise you'll have to start again as yer Saves will not work with the new Patch
Much like Shadow in inventory and PDA menus, but the Warring Factions is something new and the NPC are a bit more smarter.

I checked for updates at the start, which considering the original STALKER has been out for quite some time,I was not expecting a patch so soon.
Some back ground,it has taken a few installs and rage quitting to appreciate the original stalker.........I'm a FPS player at heart.

With this new version (no it's not an expansion pack),I was expecting a polished product, but no this is not the case, there are a few bugs with the game.
The game play itself seems fine, just things/glitches I thought would be long gone by now still exist

I'm running a high end pc and still found I had to turn some eye candy back to have smooth game play. One of my biggest gripes so far is the quick load.........b4 you would hit F7 or F9 when you died and the game reloaded, now I have to activate it via the main menu.

On a positive note the environments are great ,the time function still amazes me,as well as the weather conditions.
So in perspective it's a huge game (map size) and the details are great,I'm running Vista 64 and DX10

Yep I noticed that, even thou my Specs meet Recommended I still had to trim them back abit to get a smooth Frame Rate, But saying that it still look Awesome. Also having to restart again i got to test out the blurb about no two scenarios play the same, In my first run through I had to help defend the Tower by the old church with the lads from Clear Sky Faction, So I thought I'll just zip over and help them out again in my second run through, well theres me running out of the rushes expecting a warm welcome from me Ole Muckers from Clear Sky only to find out the tower was actually controlled this time by the Black Jackets...Wellllll all I can say is "it wasn't too pretty" (Bit like eating an Ham sandwith at a Barmitva)
Also the Weapon Degrade is a nice touch....Basically if you have an 8 shot Beratta that's a bit worse for wear then you'll find that it becomes less accurate and is prone to jam......alot, meaning you'll have to recock it every other round
To get the full enjoyment (and frustration) out of this game do not play on anything less than veteran mode ( I'm on Master) otherwise you are cheating yerself of a great TACTICAL FPS
I enjoying it and if you loved Shadow then I think you;ll enjoy it to (also it's double the HD space of Shadow (5GIG now 10 GIG) and the first patch is bigger than all the 4 shadow patches put together and at 59 buck Retail and 39 D/L you can't go wrong

OK, this game rocks, but to appreciate it fully play on nothing else but Master or Vetern for a full on Non-Linier FPS challenge, The NPC's are smarter and harder to kill depending on their body armour and yer one true friend is the weapons/body armour upgrade mechanic.....Tip if you get the MP-40 (normallly 9x19 round) get him to rework it to the 9x18 round which are in mass supply

There is a MP Ned but I've haven't tried it yet. There are about 15 maps and 4 game modes-DM, TDM, Artifact Hunt (find the artifact and return it to your base) and Artifact Capture ( Cap and hold the artifact while protecting your Artifact)
