FYI, this games now available on Steam for Prepurchase (and comes with 4 packs). You get 1 (or 4) copies of the original Bioshock for yourself or to gift to someone else also.

Oh and here's some DLC info (yeah, the game isn't even out and we're talking DLC - haha).

BioShock 2 DRM & System Requirements Revealed - Voodoo Extreme

Quote:
Other Requirements & DRM:

Initial installation requires one-time internet connection; Ability to save game, earn achievements, receive title updates and online play requires log-in to Games for Windows LIVE; software installations required including Microsoft Visual C++2008 Runtime Libraries, Games for Windows LIVE client, Games for Windows LIVE Client Patch, Sony DADC SecuROM, Microsoft DirectX.

Steam buyers will have to be logged in to Valve's service, wait for BioShock 2 to unlock, undergo SecuRom activation (and install limits too, most likely), then log in to Games For Windows Live once the game has loaded, and then use it exclusively for multiplayer. With all multiplayer GFWL setups being less than great to date, I have to say that my pessimism for BioShock 2's multiplayer mode has just gone up a notch.

I've yet to use Windows Live. Feedback thus far has mostly been negative from what I've heard...

thoughts ?

For anybody interested, the soundtrack for the new edition will be available through amazon and itunes, and will only come on a CD inside a special edition for the game.

I've used it in Section8, it works fine in that.

No dedicated servers for Bioshock2 I can live with (not happy about but can live with) but no LAN support??

I've removed this game from my 'to buy' list.

You can still manage LAN play, you just create a Private Server, much like CoD:MW2...you'll need internet access but who doesn't have a high-speed connection for their LAN parties these days, anyway? Non-issue for me. I don't know why they couldn't just offer up LAN play anyway but it's hardly a deal-breaker.

Can't wait for the 9th!
