Default CoD: WaW news - v1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and map-pack 1 info -

=====

This thread contains info and chat on the 1.2, 1.3 and the 1.4 patches.
note: Map-pack 1 is bundled with the 1.4 patch.

=====

Well it's finally here. Many have been waiting patiently for this (and some not so patiently). Either way it's here! Some of the fixes listed should have been sorted at the beta stage in my opinion BUT at least they're fixed

V1.2 patch release notes:

• Free Multiplayer Map. (daytime version of Makin)

• Fixed exploits that allowed for power ranking servers.
• Fixed router related server authentication errors.
• Fixed HTTP Redirect functionality for downloading mods
• Fixed sound device crashes stemming from Emulated Sound Devices
• Fixed exploit which allowed players to color their name tag.
• Hits now register properly while targeted player is leaning.
• Enabled /cg_drawfps in multiplayer games.
• Fixed command-line +connect functionality
• /cg_fov no longer resets to the default value in between matches.
• Dedicated servers automatically reconnect to the Master Server in case the Master Server resets.
• "Accept Game Invite" is bound to its default key, F10.
• Implemented fix for attempting to join password protected servers from the server browser.
• Fine tuned Bolt-Action Rifles for balance.
• Screenshots no longer overwrite each other.
• Fixed various multiplayer map related issues and exploits.

I was going to say "about time" but it's well past that. In the time it's taken them to get the first patch out, COD4 have four or five already pumped out tweaking, fixing, improving and adding to the already polished game.

I see no mention of a fix for the totally screwed up spawn generator. This game just wont be reinstalled on my computer (ever) unless they once and for all fix the spawn system. The number of times you repeatedly spawn into direct fire, or even better, right behind the person that killed you, is an absolute game breaker. COD4 nailed it perfectly - always spawn into a safe zone. Why COD5 screwed it so badly is beyond me. But until it's fixed, the game's broke.

lol...I'm a fan of both games, but I've spawned many times in COD4 directly in the line of enemy fire, in the middle of a nade spam or under a chopper or artilery strike. I really dont reckon there's much of a difference there between the two. At least WW doesn't seem to be the absolute nade spam fest as 4.

I had a little issue with audio after this update. No sound. Seems the realtek onboard HD audio device has to be set to 16bit 48000Hz (DVD Quality) now to work prior to this patch I was able to use 24bits 48000Hz.

Apparently the audio is made in 16 bit so it won't affect the game BUT I do question their testing team and testing process. Like I said before, many of these fixes should have been sorted out in beta.

I'm glad they're fixing things but it does seem sloppy to me.

I agree.

I don't think the spawning code has changed much at all but then I try to spend the majority of my time playing S&D so no spawning issues there.

It can be frustrating to either spawn in direct fire or have someone spawn right behind you. You'd think they could come up with a reasonable algorithm to determine a fair spawn point. Given that people are pretty vocal about it, surprised it hasn't seem to been at all addressed.

Some new maps are on the way including a new map for the Nazi Zombies game mode. With the http redirect issue finally being fixed we should start seeing custom maps being added to more servers as well.

New Downloadable Content Announced!

New conflicts are on the horizon for Call of Duty: World at War! We're pleased to introduce the contents of our first Downloadable Content (DLC) Map Pack for World at War, which includes three new Multiplayer levels, as well as an additional level for the ever-popular bonus Co-Op mode, Nazi Zombies!

Nightfire

Nightfire
In "Nightfire," players take to the streets of a war-ravaged Berlin with only the flames of the burning city to expose the enemy.

Station
"Station" offers a bombed out underground train station littered with hidden passageways and destroyed subway cars.

Knee Deep
"Knee Deep" takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center.

Verrückt (Zombie Asylum)
The fan favorite 4-player co-op Nazi Zombies Bonus Mode returns with "Verrückt," a terrifying Zombie asylum featuring more weapons, perks via the addition of Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and the endless zombie horde.

The team has been very quiet regarding details of our DLC until now, and we're so excited to let this content loose. DLC Map Pack #1 is due out in March of '09 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC platforms. More details are soon to come, so be sure to check out CallOfDuty.com for all the latest news and updates regarding CoD:WaW!

Default Patch probs

I've downloaded both patch v1.1 and the new 1.2 but repeated installs still only show the game running 1.0.1054. Is this correct? Because I am only getting around 500 servers total and hardly any are within my ping range or show any active players.

I used to get heaps of servers to choose from. Any ideas what is wrong? I've installed both patches twice and still get nothing decent on offer.

Oz.

Hi Oz, a v1.3 incremental patch was released 04-March-09
(which means 1.2 must be installed pre installing 1.3)

• /record and /demo enabled in MP.
• Server Log File improvements, including:
-- Team Names on Kill loglines.
-- Round Win and Loss.
-- Timestamps.
-- Additional action logging (took flag, destroyed headquarters, planted bomb, etc).
• Improved sound initialization for Vista - fixes loss of sound for audio devices
• set higher than 16 bit 48000 Hz.
• Screenshots no longer overwrite each other.
• Tweaked autobalance on select game modes.
