Default Far Cry 2 - Bonus Missions released

Already blasting your way through Far Cry® 2? Unlock even more destruction with two bonus missions, exclusive to Intel. These explosive missions add more twists to Far Cry® 2’s enthralling plot to bring you mayhem you won’t find anywhere else.

3 hours of new game play brought to you by Intel
These bonus missions extend Far Cry® 2’s game play by a whole 3 gripping hours. They bristle with extraordinarily coolness, and make the most of Far Cry® 2’s signature graphical excellence and real-world physics modelling. Intel collaborated with developers Ubisoft Montreal, to ensure that both missions bring out the best in Far Cry® 2’s unique hyper-real depiction of war-ravaged Africa. Make no mistake: this is the stuff your Intel® Core™2 Extreme was made for.

Mission 1: the Morrocan
This mission sends you into the most heavily guarded region of the Leboa-Sako (Northern District) territory. Hiding out at the old Legion fort is a Moroccan who might be able to help you locate the Jackal. Your objective is to locate him and find out what he knows.

Mission 2: the American
Your predecessor has tracked down the American informant to the Dogon village in the rocky northern ranges. Your objective: follow his trail and find out what the informant told him.

How to get these missions
Simply download the .exe file and launch it. The first mission will be added to Far Cry® 2 in-game mission database. Then launch the game and seek out the new mission envelope. Complete the first mission to unlock the second. It’s time to rise to the new challenge...

Please provide feedback on these missions!
(and who here completed Far Cry 2 singleplayer?)

Never completed the single player campaign... actually only really started it. Played it for a week or two, got sick of the respawn, and just gave up. Has this been addressed at all in patches or mods?? If so I'll go back to it, but if not...

So are these Intel® Core™2 Extreme bonus missions exclusive to Intel that unlock even more destruction through Far Cry® 2 available to anyone not using an Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor?

Be interesting to see how deep the Intel® Core™2 Extreme promotion goes. Will the weapons be Intel® Core™2 branded? And will you need to replace your "alternative" branded processor??

Anyway - enough sarcasm. Be interesting to see if these play out any different to the other missions. I know that of the missions I had seen, they were pretty well all identical - blow up a convoy, or go somewhere and kill everyone. Maybe I should give the game another try...

Seriously... any mods that fix the respawn times??

Is this the respawn issue you're talking about?
This game is crazy tedious... - Topic Powered by Eve For Enterprise

If it is then no, they haven't patched this yet.

Maybe these extra missions are short enough to give you some joy without the respawn issue

i've only lasted about 2 hours. mindless A.I driving up and ramming you out of nowhere. Respawning checkpoints. Driv3r-like A.I animations.. blah What's up with the random people driving up to me, getting out of their car, and opening fire on me? Do they even know who I am? Why are they shooting at me? Why does it take 20 shots to put someone down?
I can't drive for 2 minutes without some random car/jeep plowing into me wanting to shoot me.
I wish you could stop at checkpoints a la GTA4..and quietly pass through instead of being fired upon every single time.

Why aren't there any non-hostile npc's out in the world? Like at the bus stations or towns? Or have I not made it far enough?

The graphics are purdy though. I guess that's all that matters..oh and the stupid malaria/pills/weapon jam gimmicks
That's it in a nutshell. One guy there suggested setting respawns down to daily instead of per minute... that'd be enough to save this game for me - but as it is, it's just simple, tedious, and repetitive. Fix one of those, and the others are forgivable.

Don't get me wrong, the developers did a wonderful job with most of the game - but by forcing you to drive everywhere, and thereby through the same places repeatedly - it's just crazy that you need to go through the exact same motions as the previous ten times. As I've said, much to like - and these ideas and design choices will become the new standard of (hopefully) all shooters in the near future. But the game as it is, is fatally flawed.

They've just released an update for XBox 360 (with PS3 and PC to follow "soon"), but no mention of adjusting NPC respawn times in single player mode.

I believe so, yes - though I don't believe they're all that "exclusive" to Intel as they just appear to be a subset of the "predecessor missions" available through the various pre-order unlock codes floating around on the 'net (so they just add a bit more backstory, but are not added to the critical path for the main story).

The only difference I can see is that after you pick up the envelope, your objectives are not updated but your whole-area map now includes a white destination marker (the location of a predecessor tape).

No idea, sorry; I tend to get around that by either using the bus where-ever possible to cross to the other side of the map, or just cut across country rather than using the roads; the only real dangers then are a few snipers at some select locations (eg., atop the tower at the airfield in the northern section of the map, before you unlock the southern section of the map).

I purchased it and enjoyed the scenery, but like Spec, found that the constant respawn of the checkpoints detracted from the game play to the level I just gave up.

Wandering round looking for scattered diamonds was fun for a bit, but even that got boring when getting to some of them was an absolute nightmare puzzle.

I had great hopes for the multi player with the huge map concept, and was very very dissapointed when I tried it... only played it a couple of times before giving up on that as well.

All in all I would give it a 9 for graphics and physics, and a 2 for gameplay, it only gets a 2 because it is interesting for the first couple of hours.... from a repeatability it gets a 0.

I have tried going cross country... works somewhat. I have gone on the bus but on the bus you don't even get to see the scenery.

Oh well, just not for me I guess.

Cheers, Ulric.

Thanks for the swift reply jk

Too late for me I'm sorry. If this game ever gets re-installed it'll be purely for the benchmarking. Unfortunately I'll class it as being similar to Crysis - brilliant engine, brilliant graphics, brilliant ideas brilliantly integrated, but essentially a tech demo of the capabilities and possibilities. As a game, repetitive and boring.

Ah well, I'm just a jaded older gamer Maybe I should rename TOG to JOG

The multiplayer side I think is the biggest disappointment about FC2, very much an afterthought. With a few TOGgers we've had (and will probably still have) fun stuffing around in multiplayer, but it's not a serious contender to replace something like TF2, L4D, etc.

Yeah, putting multiplayer in the 50 sqkm map (either as co-op or even "hunt the Jackal") would be awesome - but alas, Ubi just wasn't visionary enough.

I still have fun with FC2, but can definitely understand why it's "too repetitive" for many folks.

Not having ever tried the MP side - I'd guess that it was done that way due to console limitations. Firstly the numbers - as they are limited to the number of connections possible, and also the processing power. I'm guessing (again) that consoles are at their absolute max just running a game like that, and so any "extra" like MP thrown at it would need to be limited.

Again - consolarific.

Don't get me started on how poor the dedicated server setup is!
The multiplay does have potential though. All that's required is a decent patch!
