I bought it.

I regret it.

One thing that really impresses me, is how the managed to make the COD4 engine look so impossibly bad! I'm not kidding either.

Let me get this out in the open, so you know where I stand. IT'S A CONSOLE PORT.

Of the few reviews I've read of this game, everyone said it's the best Bond game since Goldeneye, and coupled with the COD4 engine, it's as pretty as it is good. What I didn't factor into that, is that that statement is 100% correct. If you're an optimist like me, you'll read that as a positive... trust me, it's MUCH more accurate if you read the sorry truth in those words.

It looks and feels exactly like Goldeneye - and given that that game is well over ten years old, that's pretty sad - and it's a pretty as it is good??? It's fugly, and it sucks.

I swear, this industry NEEDS to have a new classification - CONSOLE GAME - when releasing onto PC. I don't mind when titles like Dirt and other racing games are ported, or even when its done well like with Fallout 3 - but my god, there's been zero effort in making this appeal to anyone but the youngest and newest console fanboi. The textures are so incredibly poor I thought my graphics card had just died - the textures look like they're made for the PS2 and original Xbox....

Anyone out there been suckered in like I have?? Anyone actually found anything good about it?? Please, do share, because at the moment, I'm just embarrassed to have paid for it.

I was only recently thinking about Quantum of Solace, was going to post here to ask about it So did the story even kind of get you into the game??

While I will agree with You Spectre that the graphics are not up to todays standards and didn't impliment the CoD game engine very well, Gameply wise it is not CoD but more BIA or R6V2 in the control department. Most is done in a FPS view but goes to an over the shoulder 3rd person view when in cover and in certain situations a totally 3rd person view (Like when shimmying drainpipes or balconies). So for control handling think BIA Ned.
The story is Casino Royale meets Quantum with a few extras throw in so don't expect a film walk through type of game

I also was 'suckered' into this game with the promise of COD4 engine and golden eye game play..............as much as I hate software piracy I would prefered to download a dodgy copy than spend my hard earned on this POS

Absolutely - if I'd been stupid enough to have paid full price on a boxed edition, I'd be giving it away free to any 12 year old I could find... Steam however...

Ah well, live and learn.

I was burnt on FFOW so I now wait to hear what others think before buying and not what a mag or website will publish

Mate... don't need to mention FFOW again! The most hideous example of bastardising a title to work on all platforms I've seen - what a total screw up that title was.

I swear, this industry needs a new category for ratings - consolorific!

FFOW could of been the saviour for all the BF2/2142 players looking for the "right combo" of game play,they would of cleaned up at the box office if they had got it right.

Beavis bought 3 copies of this game so 'the tribe' could play together ,as they did with BF2 and 2142............if I ever download a pirate copy of a game ,I think I will be set free with a get out jail free card for this.
