I was thinking the exact same thing but sacred to say it in case I jinxed it, so if it doesn't happen now I'm gonna blame you :P

Absolutely Drac, I was hoping that if you had both, it would merge them somehow to work together.

It's also a sequel that corrects a fatal, fatal flaw in the previous game: Left 4 Dead had no chainsaw.
yes

When asked, "why is this a sequel, and not a DLC update?" Valve employee Chet Faliszek commented that, when you sit down and examine it, you get a lot of content. "Five whole campaigns, all playable in Co-Op, Survival, Versus, and a new mode we're not announcing yet; new characters, new weapons, items, and infected," are among the things that Faliszek mentions.
liking it

the campaigns are actually connected this time

Only one new "item" was on display: the incendiary rounds.

Hey guys, this is my first post.

Okay, now that's over:

I must say that I am quite looking forward to this game, even with all the negativity it is receiving. It is in an entirely new area, new maps, weapons, characters. But the only question is, the people who purchased L4D1, and were promised bucket loads of maps, extra features and SDK (which isn't fully released). Will they receive some sort of discount? Or is it just tough luck, move on?
Either way, I am definitely buying this.

Hi Silent Scorn, Welcome to the TOG public FPS forums

Like you I'll definitely be buying this game. I do however hope L4D at the very least continues to get updates. Even if there's no content involved I'd like to see some of the bugs and stability issues worked on. eg, the client/server disconnection between chapters in a campaign is still a common issue.

Hey Silent Scorn, welcome!

I would be willing to bet that a lot of people complaining (possibly myself included) will end up buying the game, either when it launches or sometime there after. The company is going to have to do a lot of work to convince us though, so the balls in their court.

Whaa whaa, they said somehting mid-produciton and only followed up on about 60% of it, whaa whaa. Bah, ya'll a bunch of cry babies (not necessarly people here).

I've dropped more hours into this game over 2009 than any other, and I'm more than happy with what I got for my money with the current content in Left 4 Dead. I'm glad valve moved half of the staff from Turtle Rock Studios (the origional L4D team) into their main office and turned a good chunk of their other teams onto making a sequal so quickly and I'll happily lay down some more cash for their efforts. It's good to see they've grown and become efficent enough to produce so much content so quickly. That's something worth supporting because, despite a few quibbles, I really like their games.

I don't understand why fans would want to boycott a sequel because of a few missed promises in the first release -- a release that includes even more content than the current slightly-expanded origional. Are they all suffering some kind of mental illness or were they just born with a pre-disposition to pick up pitchforks?

The collective stupidity of the internet at it's finest right here.
