F and S - you guys talking ARMA2 or the ARROWHEAD expansion released last week?

Just a tip Spectre - if you buy ARMA2 on steam and then buy Arrowhead on steam, steam will force you to download 8 gig all over again. About 7 gig for Arma2 and then another gig for Arrowhead (I made those numbers up - but it will be 16 gig all up. Dumb.)

OK sold... I'll get the ARMA II: Combined Operations pack by the weekend

There are a lot of Aussie clans out there doing the "full tac" (100% tactical-zero-casualties) stuff that really brings out the full game. This clans can be hard core military (my style) or it can be more casual Tac (NotoriousD) style. Either way, if you're playing with a good squad leader there is nothing more thrilling than having you and your mates prone in the treeline listening to the correct military jargon for calling in an artillery strike over Teamspeak, seeing it "splash down" bang on target and when the dust clears 20 seconds later there is the satisfying "enemy neutralised - fire mission complete" damage assessment report.

Maybe your thing is to lay down constant suppression fire alternating with your MG buddy while a rifle section flanks the bad guys who can't be bothered to lift their head in case it gets shot off.

Maybe you like being the medic who needs to wait for the call to rush into an open field under the safety of debilitating cover fire with only smoke between you and the enemy to conceal your movements

If you have a joystic then mplayer clans are always looking for talented chopper pilots who can do a hot extraction in a tight clearing to save some SAS RECON squad who strayed a little too far behind enemy lines.

Or - if you don't want to do any of the above - I'll link you some good single player missions.

I bought ArmaII at a bricks and mortar store last year, tried it but the buggy single player put me off. So I've got the original ArmaII from disk, and Arrowhead from Steam - Hope it works. I did however pick up a decent flight stick recently - and I love flying choppers - so will see what I can do to get back into it. I LOVED flying in ArmaII, but haven't tried it yet with my new schtick.

Looking forward to diving in once more.

Nice work spec. From previous reports (I don't have Steam) I think it will force an 8 gig download just so its knows for a fact you have ARMA2 installed first. Plan for that.

Correct Father - no one knows why - yet Steam still does. ???

I got retail boxed version for both so I'm like a pig in mud.

Oink.

Single player is still buggy - although it's no game breaker... yet.

I've been redoing the helo training, got through to flying the Apache doing weapons training where your gunner shoots the targets for you - except he keeps missing one car, no matter what I do, where I place him or what I press - he just sits there looking at the scenery and I can't continue to the next section... grrrr

Other than that - the game engine is still as good (if not better) than it used to be - I love just flying around the island

Once I figure out the controls fully (god there's a lot of them!) I'll jump online and see what I can see.

I do my best to ignore AI friends and if the mission allows, I turn them off and just go lone-wolf. I'm currently in a convoy mission. The crew jumped out of the bradley for some reason and wouldn't get back no matter what orders I issued so I just drove off and left them to run after me.

Seriously - they are more hinderance than help. Most computers/cable modems can host/run small two person missions in co-op mode. Try that one out for fun - it's a whole new experience.

I shall inded - just wanted to get through the helo training first. I tried one of the scenarios where you pilot a littlebird patrol - that was pretty cool

Also tried one of the sniping scenarios and my spotter was meant to ID the target - he just sat there yelling about a tank in the far distance... So I shot everyone

Co-op really seems like it'll be the way to go.
