Dear God! I lost two years of my life to this game.... I wept when SOE killed it by trying to attract more "casual gamers" by dumbing it down. The other was not implementing the "one faction-one server" rule. It was a missed opportunity, if they had invested in more command and control tools for the people who wanted to play a global strategic level game instead of instant gratification/instant action for the kiddies we would still be fighting maxed server population battles!

It's funny but I haven't heard one person have anything bad to say about this game (including me).
If Planetside 2 is only 80% as good as we all remember Planetside 1 being, we're in for a good time! Is it too early to change my sig to a Planetside 2 pic...  .

Info is slooowly trickling in. The have been articles on the common pool vehicles on the official website, with the quad bike last week (not so newsworthy) and the Liberator gunship (which I for one am rather interested in piloting/gunning (even though its ugly lookin)) this week.
PlanetSide 2 PC Game - Article - Nanite Systems Common Pool Vehicles - Liberator So, yeah, I may not bother reposting here so keep an eye on the site. Hopefully (but probably not) they will include some detail about game mechanics when they get round to the Galaxy transport.

A lot of people excited about this. I never played the first one but am intrigued by the basic idea of it.
One question; how do servers that are able to handle that many connections even exist? And also has anyone heard if all the servers are run by SOE, opening it up to being prematurely terminated like so many good games that didn't get the returns the company was after. In short will we be able to have our own server? Or is that not how the game model works. Found this just now, could be exciting, could be a scam: Planetside 2 is up for pre-order at Gamestop | DSOGaming | The Dark Side Of Gaming I think with the beta happening, more trailers coming out and the hype building up we could be getting closer to a release announcement. Possibly mid to late 2012?? That would be nice. I'd like to give it a try. |
