Crytech could become the next Epic games like tech company with this engine. PS3, 360 and MMO they claim...

If it scales down 100 times better than Cryengine 2 then they may have a winner, but the biggest thing that's held their tech back in the past has been that they've always aimed too high. I hope they get it right this time.

God I hope we see some seriously inventive titles with this engine!

As fantastic as they are, the Unreal and idTech engines are just not in the same league as the CryEngines are.

Also, for me both Crysis and FarCry 2 (yes I know they're separate engines) are more tech demos than "end game" products. Crysis felt a little too like it was on rails, and FarCry was just a console hybrid... but apart from my feelings on the games themselves, the technology there is just spectacular. I REALLY want gameplay that matches

From what I understand of the original engine, later modifications really lowered the requirements and improved the performance so i'm hoping the next generation also has similar advantages but ultimately it will be a hands on test. My machines probably below-mid grade to be honest in terms of what is available and ran Crysis just fine with pretty much everything turned up (except a few features).

The dynamic lighting effects they can do are stellar! =O

My machine could run about 70% of Crysis just fine, it was the 30% that kept reminding me I was playing a computer game as it stuttered and failed that put me off it. And it wasn't particular levels, it was intermittent parts of the game throughout. I don't think I ever played a single session without it annoying me.

Did you try Warhead? I didn't because frankly I didn't like the character and it wasn't progressing the story onwards. Which is funny really, because the part the aliens really became the main enemy instead of the people was when I thought the game fell flat.

I liked the aliens, but I felt it ended way too quickly after that. The final battle was also nearly unplayable on my machine so for me the game ended with a sour taste in my mouth.
