Ned, yes I still have the Xfire bug - but knowing what it is makes it a very simple workaround. Apart from that, I've not seen any other bugs - haven't even had it crash on me.

I haven't played a lot yet - so far it looks and feels exactly like the original Stalker - somewhat modernised and (so far) mostly bug free. I've got the same main frustration as with the original - innacurate weapons. At least that's how it starts out. Also things like totally empty outposts with nothing and nobody there... until you speak to the trigger agent, and they'll spawn two rival factions. I know these things can't always be helped - but it takes you out of the moment.

There's a lot to like, and if you were a fan of any of the other games - you'll love it! But if you prefer the more modern shooters and didn't like the earlier Stalkers - then this wont win you over.

All up I think it's a good game with heaps of potential. Can't wait to see the mods for it too!

There was a mod for the first one to change the weapon accuracy, possible still works with this version?
I did really enjoy the first one, had a good atmosphere about it but I understand what you mean when you mention random spawns taking you out of the moment - a real annoyance of mine.

GSC Game World has released a free multiplayer map.

The map, named 'close combat' is a compact game location featuring a warehouse of containers in the Jupiter factory locale. The map is designed for dynamic play with use of close- and medium-range weapons. An interesting touch about the map is availability of one store per two teams for selling picked-up items in TDM (team deathmatch) mode.

The map is available for free download HERE. To install the map, run the downloaded .exe file, then follow the automatic instructions of the installation program.

Has anyone tried the MP in this game?

I am an avid fan of teh S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. I thought this was a little average. I think SoC gameplay in CoP would have made it way better.
