Default STALKER: Call of Pripyat

Main - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

If this follows the other games then this should be a great game too.

Looking forward to this as I really like the STALKER games. Recently completed the original again using the STALKER Complete 2009 mod. Will put up a separate post about it rather than hijack this one.

For those that don't know, here's some info on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl [2007] features an alternate reality where a second nuclear disaster occurs at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the near future and causes strange changes in the area around it...

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky [2008] is a stand-alone prequel.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is a sequel set shortly after the events in Shadow of Chernobyl.

The STALKER games are developed on the X-Ray engine.

Speaking of STALKER, you can get Shadow of Chernobyl for only US$3.75 this week from Steam.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call Of Pripyat Review - Voodoo Extreme

Quote:
STALKER. Unbroken, without being modded. If you're a fan, this is basically what you've been waiting for - a fully functioning STALKER which combines the best aspects of Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky and polishes them to a slightly creaky charm.

And check this out...
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat Benchmarker Released - Voodoo Extreme

Demos are old hat, it would appear - the new hotness is now benchmarking. They take less effort to make than a demo, and still allow developers to weed out bugs on the myriad of possible system configurations out there

It's out now on Steam - anyone got it?

Looks like there's a loyalty promo special thing. If you've already got the Steam version of any of the past Stalker games, it's only $19.99US. $29.99 for the rest of us who bought the retail version/s.

I really struggled to get into the original Stalker - buggy as hell, and an underpowered system helped to turn me off, but overall I think it's a game I'd normally like. I've heard really good things about the latest, but still want to hear some local feedback before diving in.

Cheers.

Bought it, downloaded, installed and nothing.

Just wouldn't fire up for me - so jumped on the Steam forums, and I'm not alone. Seems the game conflicts with a few different things - for me it's Xfire. Closed it down, and the game fired up straight away

Now you've started the game and therefore initiated the full install, does xfire still cause issues?
